Weekend log
Weekend went well... fucked off to Bergamo for a couple of days, allegedly to support C's band... in reality, to eat like a pig at Tijuana, one of the best places ever if you like argentinian grill and are starving for big portions at decent prices.
Ended up going with my mother, the bro and his girlfriend and we all staggered out more or less looking like this. Droool.
The concert itself had so much sound and technical problems poor C said it was the worst ever they did in ten years of gigs... I probably should have done the silent support act, but a vocal "told you so!" might have slipped here and there thanks to treacherous, unhinibiting vodka. Ooops.

Saturday was spent scarfing down european prelibacies at the current "country fair" (held in the center of the city, I'm pretty sure all the chic clothing shops are hellishly happy to have to share space with this miniature oktoberfest)... still recovering from last evening's meal, I was more or less floored for the rest of the afternoon -wich was spent sipping tea with friends and clutching the kitteeeehs to my bulging stomach. I have pictures and movies of me and the bro piling cashew nuts on top of Alpha's head waiting to be sent to cuteoverload, and a (horrible, horrible) pic of me and my mum wearing the same spoiler tshirt, proving that I either have a cool mum or that I have the fashion sense of a 55 year old... but I can't download the damn things as they're on my cellphone and bluetooth doesn't exist on my work machine. Which is still running CS2 for fuck's sake. So much for working with up to date equipment.

Sunday was Echocrome day. I treated myself to a couple of psp games and since some poor sod decided that this was too much for his braincells, I was lucky to snag a used copy of Echocrome for half the price. Yay!
But the downside is that I'm now obsessed with the damn thing... I cleared around 30 levels yesterday and I had dreams of warped perspectives last night. Shouldn't have played till 2 am.

I wrecked my eyes and brain by also watching most of the Strobist dvds my brother was so kind to give me some time ago and that have really dragged my stuff on another level. While it's true that I already knew most of the technical stuff, it's also incredibly inspirational to watch others go through the same motions with their own technique and steps... so now I'm itching to add more stuff to my gear. Three flashes, four flashes, a boom stand, another umbrella, a decent softbox... I'm getting greedy, argh!

Vulgar display of mazzate
The last one of the series, I swear... :-P

During the shoot I found out that miss Venom, didn't know who Pantera was (WTF! How can it be!) ... couldn't resist sneaking in a little tribute to their Vulgar display of power album cover, to drive the point through ;-)

Hand kindly offered by Azrael, who apparently couldn't wait to start punching the lights out of her. Love, eh? :-P

Now, if only I could spend some time sucker-punching people, I'd feel way better. Oh well... at least it's friday and I'm leaving for Bergamo tonight, to kick off the birthday week with a gargantuan dinner at Tijuana and then a gig at an old haunt of mine which I haven't been in at least two years. Apparently, it's filled with emo now... I'm looking forward to see how they like black metal.

vedi che vuol dire non averci la televisione?

val la pena di aggiungere qualcosa?

ah sì. ogni tanto vorrei che nella mia vita l'inquadratura si spezzasse come nei filmati di quell'epoca.
com'era fico quest'effetto.

Randomness
- Pre-fight club... before I whipped out the fx kit. ;-)

- What the fuck went wrong with the new Ohgr album? First couple of songs seem to have been written (and performed) while they had their head flushed down the toilet. Aaaagony! Ok, a couple of songs are good (Psychoreal and Timebomb in example) and the quality of the album does go up after that hideous start, but I still miss the wonderful catchiness and intricate rythms of "Welt"-era stuff... what a shower! and me so eager to listen to the new stuff! :-(

- Decadence fetish hospital is on the 17th... come and get wasted with me: it's my birthday and I want to party! ;-)

- Or, if you don't want to get wasted with alcohol and prefer earbleed, Mystical Fullmoon are playing this friday at Keller, Bergamo. A little bird tells me I'll be there... :-P

Blooood
The whole weekend was drenched of it...

By the way, the bruises are not photoshop, it's all makeup... internet videos are a wonderful thing: I still haven't got around building a functioning taser, but I think I caught up pretty well on how to fake bruises ^_^

This is just a little tidbit from saturday's shot with miss C. Sunday's was even more gore-oriented, as I shot a girl who suffered from a head-on collision with a car and wanted to document all the screws and stitches on her healing face -apparently, the amputated finger (complete with autentic amputee) shot I did some months ago as a request from the model inspired others to follow suit. I'm only too happy to oblige...

Movies
As finally I crawled my ass out of the cesspit of deadlines I was flung into these last days, I'm able to do a little lunchbreak updating... mostly about movies as it's been ages since I had some proper movies to look forward to -yeah, Babylon AD and Spirit that will do nicely for an evening out, but I'm not really that exited about either of them. Thankfully the tide is changing as I noticed that Ex drummer will be showing for a brief time at Bicocca Village. While the place is a regular mall cineplex, it's also one of the few theatres who show english-language movies in decent conditions (= not on screens that are only slightly larger than my monitor)... oh, and it has a Dance Dance Revolution arcade, hehehe ;-)
So, next week is Ex-drummer time.

Every village has its band of fools, trying to get to the top, following their idols in drug habits, but staying losers till the end of their pathetic days. They all do this in the name of rock & roll. Three disabled rock musicians are looking for a drummer. Dries, a well known writer, seems the right guy for the job, were it not for the fact that his only handicap is that he can't play the drums. He joins the group as a perfect, but evil god walking down his mountain to play with the populace. With the arrival of this infiltrator, personal disputes and family feuds start to jeopardize the band's fragile future. Dries will manipulate them till they are willing to drink each others blood and their only future is written down in many Punk lyrics: "No Future"

Next on the list as coming out in a month or so, is Repo! The genetic opera. With my dismay I'm afraid I'll just have to download the damn thing as it will never, ever EVER get shown in the backward country I live in. :-(
And this is extremely unlucky, as a movie theatre is possibly the best place to see it as: they're presenting it as a cross between Rocky Horror Picture Show and Blade Runner... it's a bloody musical!
Friends know I don't go much for musicals... actually, it's an understatement: I loathe the genre. [info]freya7 will remember my "fuck the musicals" tirade when she dragged me to see "Phantom of the Opera" without mentioning there was singing involved... the notable exceptions that have been passed onto me from my mother during my early teens are Rocky Horror Picture Show and Little Shop of Horrors. All the rest... Hair, Mamma mia, Jesus Christ Superstar, whatever... down the drain for me! Even "Cannibal, the musical" got only a raised eyebrow and a few laughs.

However, I am pretty much going to make an exception with this one as it's got a series of interesting features...
- it's visually very nineties cyberpunk oriented... most stuff looks straight out movies like Johnny Mnemonic.
- organ repossession (=gore & blood, always well accepted)
- Ogre. Enough said. Granted, he spends all the movie speaking italiano like-a Suppa Mario, but I'd probably go to see a show featuring him even if it was an informercial on garden chairs. Also there are several duets of Ogre and Paris Hilton... now, that's something to see.
- judging by the two clips available online, it has enough gross profanity and camp humour to keep me entertained and hopefully the drama heart-on-a-sleeve songs will be kept to a minimum... love the Hard gay lookalikes miss Hilton has as bodyguards below. :-D

The soundtrack is available on streaming and it's extremely varied... Webber-style musical with opera, goth rock and a little bit of industrial blended in. Half of it went directly in the waste bin as far as I was concerned, but the rest is mightily enjoyable... I can picture me singing "Thankless job" while in the bath or doing chores.

Ultima Cena
